Swimming
An outing to the swimming pool is a must for young kids to truly enjoy a summer camp. Practically next door to Tristar gym is Hotel Ruby Foo’s outdoor swimming pool, at the disposal of the Tristar summer day camp. We will go swimming at the pool at least once a week, considering how beneficial it is for training and overall health.
The Monitors
Caroline
Beshro and Derek Carroll are two well experienced Tristar team members, with
solid backgrounds in Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing, Chinese boxing (Kung Fu),
Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Certified with CPR training and having had
experience working with young children in the past, they are in integral part
of what The Tristar summer day camp has to offer. Example of a typical day for Tristar gym summer day campers Starting off Kids should arrive at the gym by 9:00 am after having had a good healthy breakfast from home. We will gradually begin warming up, at each persons pace, with light stretching or a bit of jump rope exercises. Eventually we begin showing the kids a specific technique, such as how to move your body in the ring, for example. All will develop these techniques properly because children who easily developed their skills will be encouraged to assist others. Kids will pair up in small groups of 2’s or 3’s to practice technical drills because this will better develop the technique and will give your child a better idea of how a move is actually used. Discussing of the moves will be encouraged, and children will throughout be taught to be patient with one another, as well as motivate each other. After a nice mentally stimulating workout, the monitors will bring the pace down by discussing key philosophies of martial arts such as ideas about self control and discipline as well as topics brought up by the children themselves. After the group has warmed down, they will be asked to fill in their journals with their physical accomplishments of the day. What they did well, what they need to work on, and some afterthoughts. They will also be encouraged to write in their friends’ journals a positive remark about one another’s work.
Snack time By 10:30 it is time to have some refreshments to keep us going until lunchtime, so Tristar has decided to offer snacks and drinks, which promote a healthy nutritious lifestyle. Freshly cut veggies, real fruit juices, fresh fruit and yoghurts are just examples of the eating habits that will be developed here.
After that It is time for activity number two. We’ve accumulated countless games that are bound to bring the best out of your kids. It’s a good time to head out to the park. We could spend time thinking up combat choreographies which will be filmed with our digital camera. Split up into small groups, each can innovate new moves and bring them to life by acting them out on film. Children can also invent self defense scenarios using their imagination and knowledge to think up creative ways to escape certain dangerous situations. These moments will be filmed and compiled onto the DVD, which will be available at the end of the camp, which will allow you to be impressed by your child’s martial arts savvy. After playing out in fresh air for a while, everyone will be looking forward to lunchtime. Lunch Time With a martial arts gym running this summer day camp, there is no doubt that children will be fed exceptionally well to support them during the activities involved in the camp. Nutritious and delicious meals will be prepared daily with fresh ingredients. Paninis, salads and pasta are but examples from the varied and balanced meal plan organized for the camp. Third This time of day will be more of a workout than earlier that day. Fitness is fundamental to progressing in most sports, and the training program for Tristar kids will boost them into a whole new level of fitness, finding the strength they never knew they had. The journal they will be writing in will keep track of their progress over the summer and you will be able to see the improvements your child has made in terms of strength, speed, agility, physical endurance etc…. as you flip through the days of this journal. 2nd snack time A second snack will be offered around 2:30
Lastly Depending on which day of the week it is, this activity may be going to the swimming pool or it may be going out to the park for games of catch, Frisbee, soccer etc… There are also some martial arts skills developing games that will be played.
